โ๏ธ World of Warcraft Name Generator (Race and Class)
Generate cool World of Warcraft character names by race, class and gender. Lore-friendly, class-themed and valid for WoW, with no apostrophes or spaces.
About this generator
Finding a great World of Warcraft character name is half the fun of starting a new character, and half the frustration when your first choice is taken. This generator creates names that fit the game's lore. Choose your race, class and gender, then press the button for a list of ideas. Each batch mixes three kinds of names so you can find the style you like.
Lore-friendly names are built from the sounds of your chosen race. For example, night elf names flow with soft vowels, orc names are short and guttural, and gnome names clank and fizz. Class-themed names are built from words that match your class, such as Gravebane for a death knight or Moonwhisper for a druid. Blended names combine a race-style name with a class ending.
Every name follows the World of Warcraft naming rules. Names are 3 to 12 letters, with no spaces, numbers or apostrophes, so you can paste them straight into the character creation screen. Names have to be unique on each realm, so generate plenty of options and keep a short list of favourites. If your first choice is taken, try a variation by changing the ending.

Tips for choosing a World of Warcraft name
- Say it out loud: You'll hear it in voice chat and see it above your head all day. Pick something easy to pronounce and spell, so friends can whisper and invite you without mistakes.
- Match your race or class: A name that fits your character, such as a soft-sounding name for a night elf or a harsh one for an orc, feels more immersive. Class-themed names like Raincaller for a shaman say what you play at a glance.
- Keep it short: Shorter names are easier to remember and type. The limit is 12 letters, but names of 5 to 8 letters tend to stand out.
- Have backups: Names are unique per realm, so your first choice may be taken. Generate a shortlist and try them one after another in character creation.
- Avoid lookalikes: Names made only of letters like I and l are hard to tell apart in chat. Choose letters that look different.
- Try a variation: If a name is taken, change the ending, drop a letter or swap a syllable. Often the second version is better.

FAQ
How do I generate a World of Warcraft name?
Choose your race, class and gender, pick a style if you like, and press Generate WoW names. Keep pressing for more ideas and copy any you like.
Do the names follow WoW's naming rules?
Yes. Every name is 3 to 12 letters with no numbers, symbols or spaces, and only the first letter is a capital.
Why are there no apostrophes?
World of Warcraft doesn't allow apostrophes or other symbols in character names, even though many lore names such as Mag'har use them. This tool only makes names you can actually type in the game.
Will the name be available on my realm?
Not necessarily. A name can only be used once per realm, so we can't check availability. Generate several and try them in the character creation screen.
Can any race be any class?
Not in the game. Some combinations are restricted, and Dracthyr can only be Evokers. This tool lets you generate names for any combination, but it keeps Dracthyr and Evoker together.
Can I make male and female names?
Yes. Choose male, female or any. The gender mainly changes the name endings.
