🏴☠️ Pirate Name Generator
Get your pirate name! Random pirate names for parties, games and stories.
About this generator
Ahoy! Whether you're celebrating Talk Like a Pirate Day, planning a themed party or writing a swashbuckling adventure, a proper pirate name is essential. This generator combines classic pirate first names, nicknames and surnames to create names like Captain Jack Drake, Anne 'Seagull' Morgan or Salty Bartholomew Flint, inspired by the swaggering style of golden-age sea stories.
Generate a batch of eight and choose your favourite. Many people enjoy creating a pirate name for each guest at a party, or letting children each pick a name for a treasure-hunt game. For stories and games, use the nickname as a clue to a character's history, such as why they're called Cutlass or Kraken.
To go further, add a ship name, a catchphrase and a bit of backstory. What was your pirate's greatest treasure, and what are they running from? Even a single sentence of backstory can turn a fun name into a memorable character for a role-playing session or a short story.
FAQ

Are these real pirate names?
They're inspired by historical and fictional pirates, mixed with invented nicknames. They're made for fun rather than historical accuracy.
Can I use these for a party or event?
Yes. They work well for themed parties, school events and games. Generate a name for each guest.
How do I create a pirate backstory?
Start with the nickname and ask why they have it. Then add a ship, a treasure and an enemy, and you have the start of a story.
